Explaining The Stock Market Jargon.

Explaining The Stock Market Jargon. :

Of course you know for sure that in these rather tricky financial times we often hear more and more so called financial jargon. It goes without saying that this jargon appears to be a real headache for those guys who try to make their first steps in the world of stocks. It’s not easy for them to track world’s economic events due to this specific lack of knowledge.

As you know the stock market is not just a physical place. On the contrary we should define it as a certain network of trading centers situated around the world. And accordingly all over the world people attend these stock market centers and their deals buying and selling stock and derivatives. I’d like to add that stocks are listed on exchanges and stocks traded by corresponding companies responsible for matching up sellers and buyers. I should say that the largest stock exchange in the world is certainly the New York Stock Exchange which is located on Wall Street. I hope that you are aware of the fact that this street can be found in New York City. As for a stock market index I can say that it’s just a portfolio of shares and this portfolio is used by media as well as various financial services for the purpose of judging the market. Now it’s high time to mention some widely used acronyms. You can come across them every day.

First of all I’d like to mention FTSE 100. To cut a long story short FTSE is a share index and it stands for up to 100 most capitalized companies of the UK. I should say that this FTSE is considered to be the most widely used indicator in the UK stock market. Moreover it represents up to 80% of the London Stock Exchange market.

Then I should mention NASDAQ of course. I don’t doubt that you’ve heard about it too. NASDAQ is often considered to be the largest trading exchange in the world when taking into consideration its volume certainly. By the way I’d like to stress that NASDAQ is supposed to be the first fully electronic stock exchange in the world and currently it runs 8 exchanges in Europe and it owns one third of the Dubai Stock Exchange.

And finally I should mention Dow Jones. Of course you’ve also heard about this index. So the Dow Jones includes a group of the world indexes and it covers up to 90% of the market capitalization for the world established markets. In other words thousands of companies are meant when the Dow Jones is mentioned. It’s one of the most important indexes in the stock market and all the traders of the world take it into consideration when making their technical and fundamental analysis. I hope you’ve learnt enough from this review.

Many people who take care of their retirement investing or any other kind of investing activity use stock market to diversify their profits.
